Do what you love is often heard. I love the process of building a soup. From the initial inspiration or craving, to seasonal favourites, the shopping, growing and cooking have become a form of therapy to me.
The idea for a soup stand began in Spring 2021, when life began to feel dimly lit and complicated. Looking to what I enjoyed most, my family, dog, and cooking, helped create this venture. In October, during Thanksgiving weekend, the stand was open!
I have been been making soups for decades. First in the early 90s at a vegetarian restaurant in Victoria, BC. Then consistently, for myself and family. It was routine on a Sunday to make a pot of soup and freeze for a weeks worth of lunch. The aroma of mirepoix, deciding what herbs and spices were best, and the goodness of ingredients created such satisfaction.
Making soup is pure pleasure to me and I am grateful to share that with you.
